Hello there darling doodlers!

To make up for my lack of participation in my beloved doodling these past few months, I have decided to hold an annual contest to help get everyone motivated and inspired!

Here's the official rules!
Starts 2/9/2012 at noon EST
Ends when the last doodler doesn't do a doodle within 24 hours of their last doodle.

Requirements for participation:  Must be a member of the daily doodlers group as of 2/9/2012 at noon EST

Doodlers must submit a doodle to the group every 24 hours to keep in the challenge.  The doodler who doodles the longest will win awesome prizes, including a custom doodle by me!  The longer the doodlers doodle, the bigger the prize pool becomes.  Also depending on the duration and how much people impress me, I may award some prizes to the runners-up.

Please keep in mind that while there are no restrictions on time or painting/drawing medium, if you constantly submit quick line doodles that took no longer than a few minutes, or are otherwise caught skirting your daily doodling in other clever ways, you may be disqualified at the judge's discretion.  Doodling is for your own benefit, I'm just here to push you along and make it more fun - so please use your doodling time to push your skills and improve!

Don't want to doodle but want to participate?  2 more judges are need to serve beside me and decide the fate of this contest!  If you don't have the desire to doodle daily but you want to still help out and have some fun, contact me (mynti) by note and tell me why you want to help out.

Get your pencils sharpened, your paint tubes out, your tablets shiney and clean!   Let's get to the fun stuff, doodlers!

Says you cannot exceed 1 submission per day. I just tried to submit my second drawing (it's been 23.5 hours). How can we keep up the whole under 24 hours if we can't even submit it within 24 hours?

Okay, so I set members to be able to submit 5 per day (good luck with keeping that effort up!) and contributors have unlimited submissions.

Heh, it is a trick to figure when is the best time to post each day - but luckily I am pretty lenient, as long as I see, at the end of the week, 6 or 7 doodles and each is seperated by an average day... I'm happy. :D

... and here I comment again...
a suggestion: how about a gallery folder for the challenge entries, so that we can see them all together? :)

That sounds great. :) Though only one of my challenge doodles has been moved there and I don't have the option to submit directly to the folder.

also, "within 24h of the last doodle" means you'll technically have to post sooner every day... at some point that's going to interfere with day jobs/school etc.
so would it be possible to post 2 doodles a day on a work-free day to push the daily deadline back for the week again?

what kind of doodles are acceptable? would concept sketches for craft projects (for example) be okay, too?

Yep, I'm not going to be a pain about the time, as long as it is on average 24 hours each day.

Anything counts as a doodle. Just do your doodles and don't worry! To answer your other comment, posting old doodles as new doodles would also disqualify a doodler.

Sorry, a doodle a day from 2/9 til it stops - although I may do another one of these if it is simply bad timing for everyone.

hmmm, okay. so today's the first day. I AM currently busy with a craft project, but maybe I can spare half an hour or so this evening. :)
just to verify the time: when does the 9th end where you're from? ;)

what would "skirting your daily doodling in other clever ways" be? :D

uhhhh... why do I have to be so busy right now??? :XD:
entering a few days late is probably not allowed, is it?

Isn't it better to have it set so you have to submit within that date instead of within 24 hours of the last doodle? I know for myself that I draw in different times of the day a lot, and it would be much harder to try to keep it as close as possible to within 24 hours without moving it earlier and earlier every day.

But then again maybe that's difficult with the time difference...
I've been drawing one a day for some time now, I've had my deadline from "when I get up until I go to bed again". That's worked out really well, even though I study full time at a university. Maybe that's a bothersome way to judge though.. eh. I dunno. =(

If you draw once a day, it should fall within 24 hours of your last doodle. If you doodle one day in 15 hours, and one day in 25 hours, I will be somewhat lenient about this considering. But it will be ultimately up to the judges to decide the nitty-gritty of precisely what counts.

My diabolical plan is to do some studies from life as I find they don't take as long as photo studies. Plus it gets me drawing from life.

Oh questions - is the challenge limited to strictly 1 doodle a day? If not, does that mean the next day's doodle only has to be within 24 hours of the last doodle submitted, and not the first doodle of the previous day? (I don't know how to phrase that so it doesn't sound confusing rofl).

Also how strict is the 24-hour deadline? I figured at first I'd just submit mine at 8pm every evening, but then last night I accidentally submitted it 10 mintues earlier. I'm just worried I'm going to have to submit my doodles earlier and earlier until I wont' have time to do them!
